Abstract
An abbreviated AOAC method has been developed for detecting aflatoxin in corn. The residual oil from a water-chloroform extraction of the sample is used for spotting the thin layer chromatogram. The silica gel cleanup column is omitted, thereby realizing a substantial saving in time and materials. Sensitivity of the method is less than 5 μg aflatoxin Bi per kg corn sample. The method is applicable to shelled corn, corn meal, canned sweet corn, and corn breakfast cereal. Keywords
