Abstract
A method is described for the isolation of E. coli mutants impaired in systems for carbohydrate uptake. One such mutant, impaired in a component of the phosphotransferase specific for the uptake of glucosamine (ptsX), has been used to establish the order zwf edd kga kdgR ptsX fadD of genes located at about min. 36 on the chromosome. Keywords
