Abstract
The dosing considerations of antimicrobial agents when used in patients with renal impairment are discussed extensively. Criteria for establishing the degree of renal impairment are given, and the relationship between serum creatinine and creatinine clearance is discussed. The drugs covered in part one of this paper are the penicillins, the cephalosporins, the tetracyclines, antifungal agents (amphotericin, flucytosine and griseofulvin), the polymyxins and the aminoglycosides. Keywords
