Abstract
Sodium transport in leucocytes of essential hypertensives was studied in physiological media. Untreated hypertensives have depressed values for the total and ouabain-sensitive sodium efflux rate constant. Treatment with diuretics abolished this abnormality. These results are compatible with the presence of a circulating inhibitor of sodium transport in essential hypertension.Keywords
