Abstract
The iron is extracted and measured without precipitation of the serum proteins, and only three reagents, a detergent (Teepol), ascorbic acid, and orthophenanthroline are used. The method can be applied to both fresh and frozen sera and the results are not affected by hemolysis. Recovery of added ferric iron is quantitative. The new method has been compared with the methods of Kaldor (1953) and Trinder (1956).Keywords
