Abstract
In 25 patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis the level of epidermal growth factor (EGF) was significantly increased in plasma (61 ± 10 vs. 36 ± 12 pMin 23 age-matched controls; p M, p M/106 platelets in controls; p M). Thus, kidneys are not delivering EGF to blood but their role in EGF removal is possible. Urinary EGF virtually disappears in severe chronic renal failure. Keywords
