Abstract
The highest cancer incidence rates were observed in Israel and Nigeria, and the lowest in Japan and India. In Israel, Denmark, Japan and USA, there is a peak in the age group 0-4 yr. In Colombia and India, the rates are stable from 0-14 yr. In Nigeria there is a peak at 5-9 yr. In USA Negroes there is a peak at 0-4 yr and a higher peak at 10-14 yr. In all countries surveyed except Brazil, leukemia was the most frequent malignancy. In Brazil, lymphoma and leukemia were equally frequent. In Japan, leukemia accounted for almost half of the childhood malignancies and lymphoma was rather infrequent. Brain tumors were the 2nd most frequent malignancy in the USA, Manchester [England], Japan and Bulgaria. In Israel, lymphomas were almost as frequent as brain tumors. Neuroblastoma very infrequent in Bulgaria. The age-standardized and age-specific incidence rates for leukemia, lymphosarcoma, Hodgkin''s disease, brain tumors and other tumors in 7 countries were analyzed. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
