Abstract
Neopulchellin (1) [a constituent of Gaillardia pulchella] showed that the cycloheptane ring fused to cis-butyrolactone adopts a boat conformation as a solid and in solution, in contrast with the half-chair form in the trans-lactone isomer, pulchellin (3), on the basis of X-ray diffraction of 1 and comparison of 400 MHz 1H-NMR and cd [circular dichroism] spectra of 1 and 3.Keywords
