Abstract
S. mutans NCTC 10832 was grown on synthetic medium in a chemostat, using various major C sources, i.e., sorbitol, fructose and sucrose. Freeze-dried cells were methylated and the methyl esters analyzed by GLC. The fatty acid profiles obtained showed small quantitative change with different sugars, sucrose concentrations and types of growth.
