Abstract
Small optical isolators for longer wavelengths are fabricated. The isolator consists of a Gd3−xBixFe5O12 single crystal and small polarizers composed of metal–dielectric mutlilayers. The isolator for λ = 1.29 μm has a backward loss of >28 dB with a forward loss of 1.9 dB, and that for λ = 1.52 μm has a backward loss of >31 dB with a forward loss of 1.1 dB, where Fresnel reflection losses are not included. Keywords
