Abstract
Adaptive optics is a technique for correcting atmospheric wavefront disturbances to yield diffraction limited imaging. It is a technique whose advantages are most apparent in the 2-5µ spectral region, where wavefront corrections are derived from study of visible objects. Graphs are presented to show performance needs of adaptive optics systems. Keywords
