Abstract
The propagation of incident linearly polarized plane elecromagnetic waves through a helium afterglow plasma along the direction of a static magnetic field has been experimentally investigated. Measurements of the phase and intensity of the components of the electric field transmitted through the plasma in the same orientation as the incident polarization and cross-polarized to the incident polarization have been made. Comparison with theory which includes the losses due to the plasma shows relatively good agreement. Keywords
