Abstract
A number of platinum complexes [PtCl2(R3P)L] and [PtCl(R3P)2L]Cl, where L is a phosphine or phosphite ligand, have been prepared and their 31P n.m.r. spectra are reported. It is suggested that these data provide evidence which supports the existence of a cis-influence. Use of 31P–{1H} double resonance enables |2J(P–Pt–P)| to be measured directly. trans-[PtCl2(Bun 3P)(Et3P)] does not give a first-order 31P n.m.r. spectrum.
