Abstract
The use of a simple triangular facet element in the analysis of shells by the displacement method is described. The element stiffness incorporates a recently proposed displacement formulation of the constant-moment element to represent bending behaviour and the well known constant-stress element to represent membrane behaviour. The analysis is a reformulation of an earlier approach based on a mixed variational principle. The results of two numerical applications are included. Keywords
