THE IMMOTILE CILIA SYNDROME - A LONGITUDINAL SURVEY

Abstract
The clinical course and changes in pulmonary function in 7 patients with immotile cilia syndrome were folloWed for periods of 4-14 yr. Despite the high morbidity with chronic productive cough, chronic otitis and sinusitis, the results of pulmonary function tests, which showed significant irreversible airway obstruction and air trapping, remained stable during this time. Similarities between changes in pulmonary function in patients with cystic fibrosis who have no pancreatic insufficiency are noted.
