Abstract
As intrapericardial pressure is increased by the introduction of saline into the pericardial cavity, cardiac output falls. Intravascular pressures, arterial and venous, pulmonary as well as systemic, approach the same value. This equalization of intravascular pressure is due to the decreasing ability of the heart to maintain normal distribution of blood within the vessels. Keywords
