Urinary Concentration of Gonadotrophin (ICSH)-Inhibiting Substance in Stein-Leventhal Syndrome

Abstract
The urinary concentration of gonadotrophin (ICSH)-inhibiting substance was found to be markedly reduced to absent in 5 patients with Stein-Leventhal syndrome, while it was present in amounts usually found in normal subjects in one patient with mild adrenal cortical hyperplasia. It is possible that the Stein-Leventhal syndrome may result from the unregulated action of ICSH on the ovary, associated with a reduction in the postulated secretion of "inhibitor.".
