Abstract
Direct or quasi-direct gamma -ray production in ultra-high-energy interactions is considered in accelerators, cosmic jets and gamma -ray families. The basic features of the electromagnetic component in EAS, the maximum depth and the adsorption length, are simulated with interaction models involving this hypothesis, as well as with models based on standard multiple production such as the scale breaking model. Better agreement is clearly obtained if 'gammaisation' mechanisms are introduced for square root s>or=500 GeV.Keywords
