“Candy wrapper” effect after drug‐eluting stent implantation: Déjà vu or stumbling over the same stone again?

Abstract
Encouraging results have been obtained with drug‐eluting stents (DESs) to prevent restenosis following PCI. However, DESs are not immune from restenosis and we describe a case of “candy wrapper” effect, commonly observed with intracoronary brachytherapy (IBT). In this article, we review the common drawbacks of DES and IBT and their prevention. Catheter Cardiovasc Interv 2004;61:387–391.
