Abstract
Describes a transformation formalism for coated crossed gratings. The authors verify the formalism using several physical checks, and comment on useful symmetry properties for crossed gratings. The authors study the effects of roughening on the performance of solar-selective absorbers of the interference layer type and show that roughening can significantly improve absorptance without increasing the emittance, and that in some cases it can actually reduce the emittance. Keywords
