Abstract
Bacteriological diagnosis has confirmed the clinical evidence of mild, acute and fatal enteric infections in chimpanzees and spider monkeys. During a 4.5-yr. period, 92 enteric pathogens including 3 Salmonella types and 4 Shigella types were isolated from 39 primates. Studies to determine the resistance of 30 Schmitz cultures to sulfadiazine revealed 22 resistant strains. Keywords
