Abstract
Manufacturing activity has been shifting from the Northeast and North Central regions of the country to the South and West, and from large metropolitan areas to smaller cities and rural areas. The concept of spatial-industrial filtering is closely related to the notion of a product life cycle, which may be regarded somewhat arbitrarily as having three phases: early, growth, and mature. This paper examines these issues. Keywords
