Abstract
A model for the photographic emulsion is used to determine analytically the signal-to-average-noise irradiance ratio in the reconstruction of a hologram. Analytical results are compared to experimental results. An example is given to show how the experimental results can be used to evaluate the storage capacity of a recording material. Keywords
