Abstract
We show that an optical system, a laser with an injected signal, behaves as an excitable medium. This property gives rise to propagating pulses if the active medium is spatially extended. We study the properties of those waves and we demonstrate that they may annihilate or cross each other depending on the control parameter values. Keywords
