LtoKElectron Capture Ratio inGe71

By comparison of the number of 0.175-Mev gamma rays occurring in the decay of ${\mathrm{As}}^{71}$ with the number of gallium $K$ x-rays proceeding from ${\mathrm{Ge}}^{71}$ $K$ capture, the relative amount of $L$ capture in ${\mathrm{Ge}}^{71}$ has been determined indirectly. Solid sources and a scintillation spectrometer were employed. The ${\mathrm{Ge}}^{71}$ $\frac{L}{K}$ electron capture ratio is found to be 0.09±0.05, in agreement with theory.
