A SIMPLE METHOD FOR CHARACTERIZING YEAST SEDIMENTATION

Abstract
A method is described for following yeast sedimentation with the aid of a modifled Lange photocolorimeter fitted with a recording instrument. The results present a picture of the course of sedimentation of agglutinated suspensions. A simple method of evaluating the curves of the percentage representation of individual fractions in a non-homogeneous suspension is given, together with curves illustrating the compensation of the agglutinating activity of aluminium sulphate by baker's yeast and the possible agglutination of one suspension of baker's yeast by another one.
