Abstract
During the months of August 1959, 1960, and 1961 an investigation of adult chironomids for mermithids was carried out at the University of Minnesota Forestry and Biological Station at Lake Itasca, Minnesota. This survey yielded quantities of male and female nema-todes of Hydromermis itascensis sp. n. from adults of Glyptotendipes lobiferus(Say). A quantitative description is based on ten male and ten female specimens. Qualitative determinations are based on more than the 20 specimens. Evidence is presented for the subgeneric validity of the taxon Gastromermis. The members of this subgenus are differentiated by the taxonomic key.
