Abstract
A new blood parasite (NYCTERIA medusiformis) is descr. from the insectivorous bat (Nycteris capensis) captured in caves around Zanzibar, Kenya, Africa. Only gametocytes are present in the blood, bnd infected R. B. C. show protruded filaments. Schizonts are in the liver parenchyma cells. These liver stages are possibly a part of the exo-erythrocytic clcle of the parasite. Identity of a possible vector was not established although numerous ectoparasites of various kinds were examined. Keywords
