Determination of a binary period for the variable X-ray source A1907 + 09

Abstract
An analysis of observations of A1907 + 09 made with the Ariel V Sky Survey Instrument between 1974 November and 1980 February has revealed a binary period of 8.380 ± 0.002 day. During the last observation, in 1980 January, a long outburst was observed and limited spectral information was obtained. The light curve supports the proposition that A1907 + 09 is a member of the class of X-ray binaries containing a massive optical component.
