Abstract
The performance of various slow light schemes is analyzed from the point of view of power dissipation per stored bit. It is shown that the dissipated power increases quite nonlinearly with storage capacity, and that the schemes based on low-loss photonic structures with distributed amplifiers hold indisputable advantage over other schemes. Keywords
