Abstract
Ion-conducting target foils in image orthicon tubes develop during operation a second photocathode on the back (scanning) side of the foils. This cathode probably consists of deposited and neutralised ions of the foil material. Methods for measuring the photoemission from the target and for discrimination between front and back emissions are reported. Keywords
