Abstract
In the course of an analysis of the metabolic cost of treadmill walking, an equation was derived that predicts the walking oxygen consumption of adult males in terms of subject's height and weight, and of treadmill speed and grade. A nomogram has now been developed, based on this prediction equation, that may also be used to preset the treadmill to obtain a given exercise oxygen consumption. exercise; metabolic rate; nomogram; treadmill walking Submitted on May 20, 1963Keywords
