Death of a High School Hockey Player

Abstract
In brief: This article recounts the tragedy of a 15-year-old hockey player who was struck in the chest by a puck and died during a high school game. After disclosing the autopsy report and the probable mechanism of death, the author reviews similar sports-missile chest injuries found in the literature and discusses how the team physician can establish a program to facilitate the grieving process, cope with newspaper and television reporters, and ease the team back into competition.
