Abstract
The leading trend in the evolution of the family Ophryoscolecidae was the torsional displacement of the nuclear apparatus from the primary nuclear side ("dorsal" side of Entodinium) to the secondary nuclear side ("dorsal" side of the higher Ophryoscolecidae). This shift was accompanied by progressive development of the skeleton and by polymerization of organelles. Creation within the family Ophryoscolecidae of three new subfamilies, based on the grade of torsional displacement of structures and on some other characters, is proposed. Keywords
