Abstract
The feasibility of a pigtail type laser module entirely moulded in plastic is demonstrated from the viewpoint of reliability. Stable operation for this module is confirmed under various long-term aging tests, high humidity high temperature tests (85% humidity and 85°C) and temperature cycling tests (–40 – 70°C). This type of laser module is potentially suitable for low cost optical transmitters. Keywords
