Abstract
This note summarizes some of the currently available insights in automatic indexing. The emphasis is on aspects that are expected to be useful in a practical automatic indexing applications. The discussion is necessarily cursory, but the references will lead interested readers to a deeper treatment of the indexing problem. Keywords
