Abstract
A dc transmission system proved to be the most economic mode for moving power from the Nelson River to southern Manitoba. This paper presents discussion on several studies, such as sending-end filtering, stability, load flow, and dc filter requirements. The electrical design of the lines is discussed, and a concept for determination of mid-span ground clearance is presented. Keywords
