Professorial Stress as a Variable in Structuring Faculty Roles

Abstract
Using data from empirical studies which are available on the various dimensions of faculty stress, this article suggests implications for organiza- tional design in academe. Based upon his experiences in university ad- ministration, including consultant to the Vice-President for Administration, University of Wisconsin, the author interprets academic behavior in terms of two criteria, organizational effectiveness and academic freedom.Keywords
