Abstract
Covalently closed circular DNA were found in 10 strains of B. natto. The plasmids could be classified into 4 types on the basis of the MW and the patterns in agarose gel electrophoresis after digestion with [EcoRI, BamN1 and Hind III] restriction endonucleases: plasmids (7 were detected) with a MW of 3.6 .times. 106; plasmids (2 were detected) with a MW of 4.0 .times. 106; plasmids (8 were detected) with a MW of about 34 .times. 106; and a plasmid with an approximate MW of 46 .times. 106. Of the 10 plasmid-carrying strains, 6 (IFO3009, IF03013, IF03335, IF013169, IAM1143 and IAM1207) harbored type 1 and 3 plasmids; 2 (IAM1114 and IAM1168) harbored type 2 and 3 plasmids, and IF03936 and IAM1163 carried type 1 and 4 plasmids, respectively. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
