Compétition entre la spargoute des champs (Spergula arvensis) et la sétaire glauque (Setaria glauca). I. Production de matière sèche

Abstract
Interspecific and intraspecific competition was studied between corn spurry (Spergula arvensis L.) and yellow foxtail (Setaria glauca (L.) Beauv.) both in a greenhouse and in a field community. De Wit replacement series were used to investigate dominance relationships under both conditions. In the greenhouse experiment, yellow foxtail was found to be dominant. On the other hand, corn spurry was the dominant species in the field experiment. Two factors seem to explain the field data: low soil nitrogen levels and the earlier emergence of corn spurry in the spring.
