Abstract
A simple classical liquid theory (the Ornstein–Zernike equation treated in the hypernetted chain and Percus–Yevick approximations) is applied to the graphite intercalation compounds C24CS and C24K. The interparticle potential is taken to be infinite for distances less than a particle diameter and a screened coulomb potential for longer distance. A layered free electron model is used in the screening calculation. The calculated pair correlation function agrees extremely well with X-ray diffraction measurements of this function at room temperature. Keywords
