Abstract
A search for rebound gastric hypersecretion after ingestion of antacids in patients with duodenal ulcer revealed that aluminum-magnesium hydroxide (in a dose of 30 or 60 ml) and sodium bicarbonate (in a dose of 4 or 8 gm) failed to stimulate gastric secretion in the assay system used. By contrast, calcium carbonate (4 or 8 gm) induced gastric hypersecretion. Keywords
