Abstract
The symmetry properties of nonlinear optical susceptibilities in the electric dipole approximation for collinear circularly or elliptically polarized light waves have been analyzed on the basis of group-theoretical considerations. Selection rules are obtained for the nonlinear interaction of arbitrary order along any symmetry axis of the 32 crystallographic groups and the three-dimensional rotation group. Keywords
