Abstract
A technique is described for the study of electrons which are elastically scattered from a gas target into a small solid angle centered at 180° with respect to the direction of the incident electron beam. The method is applied to electron scattering from C. Information is obtained concerning the nature of the compound state in the 4-eV region.
