Abstract
The fact that there are so many operative methods for the removal of pterygiums shows that until now none of them has given entirely satisfying results to all surgeons. Therefore a method is described which I developed in association with Dr. C. Iklé when in charge of an ophthalmic department in Switzerland. There, as in private practice, the results were uniformly satisfactory, and up to this writing there has been no recurrence. The operation does not advance anything fundamentally new, being combined with other plastic procedures. However, it is the combination and the addition of some important details that gives greatly improved results.
