Abstract
Utilizing a double-lumen endobronchial tube, synchronized independent lung ventilation (SILV) was successfully employed to manage severe unilateral pulmonary contusion in a 6-year old trauma patient. This appears to represent the youngest reported patient in whom this technique has been utilized. Early institution of this treatment modality may substantially increase survival. Keywords
