Abstract
As a result of the combined study of field observations and analytical investigations of aerial photographs it is shown that the direct (tonality, texture) and indirect photographic criteria ( geomorphological factors, vegetation) permit a good identification and delimitation of homogeneous areas which, in mediterranean regions, correspond to well defined morpho-pedological units.
