Abstract
Cross sections for the reactions ,XC and ,XC were measured using 1.05 GeV/nucleon and 1.7 GeV/nucleon ions. Annihilation radiation from was counted using a large volume NaI(Tl) detector. Values of 80.4±1.9 mb and 99.5±1.1 mb were obtained for and , respectively. The results are compared with earlier measurements of production from C targets using relativistic p, , and projectiles. The (RHI,XC cross sections are well described by a linear transport model, but are not in agreement with the predictions of strong factorization.
