Abstract
Many eye color mutants in D. melanogaster are characterized by colorless or pale yellow Malpighian tubes in contrast to the bright yellow tubes of wild-type individuals. Malpighian tube color can be used as a larval character; examples of such use are given. Under certain genetic conditions Malpighian tube color may be influenced by the genetic constitution of the mother. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
