Abstract
Protein, inorganic constituents and moisture account for over 94% of air-dried ivory. The inorganic constituents, mainly Ca, phosphate and smaller amounts of Mg and carbonate, account for 60%; protein accounts for 26% and moisture for 8%. The amino acid composition of the protein of ivory was determined; it is similar to that of human dentin. A small amount of galacto-samine was also present. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
